The news of lifeguard, surfing teacher, and Pirates of the Caribbean star Tamayo Perry’s passing rippled over Hawaii, sending shockwaves through the surfing community. The 49-year-old actor, who was also in Charlie’s Angels and Blue Crush, was fatally attacked by a shark on Sunday afternoon close to Goat Island, according to a statement from Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.
The Unfortunate Loss Of Tamayo Perry
According to reports, the well-known surfer departed to surf off Mokuauia, which is close to Laie, Hawaii. At 1 pm, sources verified that he was later found dead. The event was reported by a caller who said they had observed a man off Malaekahana Beach near Kahuku suffering from what appeared to be shark bites. It looked as though Perry had been bitten by sharks more than once.
Just before 1:00 pm, emergency personnel then showed up at Malaekahana Beach. While paramedics helped with the death announcement, rescuers arrived to the aid of the Ocean Safety lifeguard and transported him to the shore via jet ski. Perry apparently passed away right there.
After the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides actor passed away, Ocean Safety representatives put up shark alerts nearby.
The Local Community Comments On Tamayo Perry And His Demise
Following his death announcement, Tamayo Perry was remembered by Honolulu leaders and the local community.

Perry is a “Hard-charging, God-fearing Pipeline specialist from Oahu’s North Shore,” according to the Encyclopedia of Surfing, but in 2022, Surfing magazine predicted that he would be “most likely to get the barrel of the year.” Born in 1975, the well-known individual started surfing at the age of twelve. According to Honolulu Emergency Services Department Shayne Enright, he began working with the Ocean Safety Department in July 2016.
