Palestinians said that an Israeli bombardment on a school in southern Gaza City that was housing displaced persons on Saturday killed at least 22 people, while the Israeli military claimed that the attack was directed at a Hamas command center.
The Terror In Gaza
The majority of those slain, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, were women and children. Six women and thirteen children were among the deceased, according to the government media office managed by Hamas.
According to the military, it struck a Hamas command center buried in the property where there used to be a school, validating claims that the organization exploits residential buildings for military objectives. That is something that Hamas disputes.
In one room, there were holes in the ceiling, damaged and burned furniture, and blasted walls as survivors attempted to save what little remained. The footage was obtained by Reuters from the scene.
“The women and their children were sitting in the playground of the school, the kids were playing, and suddenly two rockets hit them,” according to a witness, Said Al-Malahi

Ambulances moved other bodies while others were covered in blankets and taken away on donkey carts.
Another eyewitness, Ahmed Azzam, expressed his frustration that the region’s neighbors were not standing up to Israel more forcefully. “I couldn’t take it, I did not see a single man that injured, it was all women and children,” explained Azzam.
Gaza Comments On The End Of The War
The Gaza Health Ministry reported that an Israeli strike on ministry warehouses in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, resulted in the deaths of four medical personnel. It said that ambulance staff were unable to reach the deceased or tend to the injured.
The Israeli military said in a statement that during their latest operations in Rafah, which began in May, they had destroyed tunnel shafts and military equipment and killed hundreds of militants.
One of the main obstacles to international efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement has been Israel’s insistence on maintaining control of the southern border between Rafah and Egypt.
Israel claims that the war can only end when Hamas is destroyed, while Hamas claims that its main goal is an agreement to stop the conflict and remove Israeli forces from Gaza. The details of a swap of Israeli hostages for Israeli-held Palestinian inmates have proven to be another contentious issue.
