For the last four days, the Indian squad has been training in New York. Strength and conditioning constituted the first day; however, from the second day onward, the emphasis shifted to specific roles. But India hasn’t had a full, intensive training session in New York yet. It’s interesting to note that, despite arriving in America on Friday, Kohli has not yet practiced with the team.

In the warm-up match against Bangladesh on Saturday, Rohit and Sanju Samson batted at the top of the order for India, while Rishabh Pant batted at No. 3 with Kohli in the lineup. It’s interesting to note that the absence of specialist opener Yashasvi Jaiswal from the match suggests that Rohit and Kohli would start against Ireland.
Rohit will be free to include both Dube and Pandya in the playing XI after Kohli opens the innings. While leading the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team in scoring during the 2024 IPL, Kohli has been in outstanding form, amassing over 600 runs. Playing Pant at one down will allow him to attack the bowlers and build momentum, especially in light of his 32-ball 55 against Bangladesh.
Pandya, Dube, and Suryakumar Yadav ought to bat at Nos. 4, 5, and 6, respectively. Rohit has an additional batting option when he places Axar Patel next in the lineup after Ravindra Jadeja at No. 7.
