Bollywood actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty dedicated the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest honor in film, to his family and supporters, mentioning that he “came from a narrow lane of Kolkata” after it was announced that he would win it.

On X, Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, declared that Chakraborty would receive the honor during the 70th National Film Awards event on October 8, 2024.
“After receiving such a great prize, I lost my words. I have no idea how to put it. I am unable to grin or cry. The seasoned actor and producer stated, “I am dedicating this award to my family and fans across the world.”
