Marvel Rivals, a brand-new free-to-play PC game from Marvel Games, will debut in May. Players will be able to assume the roles of eighteen legendary Marvel superheroes and villains when it launches, with more to be added in upcoming game updates.
Marvel Rivals: Introducing The Squad
May (exact release date TBD) will see the first roster made available to players with the closed alpha version. Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Groot, Hulk, Iron Man, Loki, Luna Snow, Magik, Magneto, Mantis, Namor, Peni Parker, Rocket Raccoon, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Storm, Star-Lord, and The Punisher are among those included.
Players will be able to “assemble an ever-evolving all-star squad of superheroes and supervillains while battling with unique superpowers across a dynamic lineup of destructible maps from across the Marvel Multiverse,” according to China-based “Marvel Rivals” developer NetEase Games.
Marvel Rivals: The Game Description
The NetEase writing team created the plot of “Marvel Rivals,” which tells of how the violent conflict between the oppressive ruler Doctor Doom and his 2099 counterpart has caused countless universes to collide in the Timestream Entanglement, resulting in new worlds and unidentified crises. Superheroes and villains from the multiverse now have to battle alongside one another in order to defeat both Dooms before one party takes control of these realities.
Following the debut, Marvel and NetEase promise “robust” post-launch updates, including seasonal drops that include new character additions along with extra maps and content.
The NetEase Games Director’s Comments On The Game
“Marvel Rivals is one of our most ambitious game development projects,” stated Jay Ong, the executive director of Marvel Games. “Our Marvel team has put our all into this project since the game’s conception and throughout our collaboration, and we are excited to work with the amazing team at NetEase Games to help deliver the ultimate superhero team-based PVP shooter.”
According to NetEase Games director Thaddeus Sasser, “superhero teams are also a little like family and often team up to defeat evil together,” Variety reported. The team-up features in “Marvel Rivals” can also be used to supercharge defenses or assaults and collectively swing the tide of the battle with your friends and allies. Play as Rocket Raccoon, for instance, and dash into battle with your friend Groot on your shoulders. Perhaps you should employ Doctor Strange’s portal capability to let the Punisher shoot his turret through it, dousing his unsuspecting adversaries in flames. There are a few secret ones in addition to the many known ones. To ensure that your team wins in the end, search the game for them all.
