Todd Phillips’ upcoming musical psychological thriller Joker 2 (also known as Joker: Folie à Deux) has a new poster released by Warner Bros. Lady Gaga will be joining the cast, and Joaquin Phoenix will play the same part he played in the 2019 original film. The production company also disclosed the date of the eagerly anticipated trailer’s release.
Joker 2: Introspecting The Poster
The recently released image shows Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck, also known as the Joker, striking a traditional ballroom dance position alongside Lady Gaga’s character Harley Quinn. Both of them are dressed formally, with a white dress and a black tuxedo, respectively. For once, they are wearing their clown makeup and have serious faces.
The Joker 2 teaser is set to release on April 9, according to the caption that accompanied the poster on Warner Bros India’s X account. This would generate enough buzz before the movie’s October 4 release. Remarkably, on October 2, 2019, the first installment, Joker, was released at the same moment.
A Win At The Oscars
Just like Arthur Fleck, also known as the Joker, Joaquin took home the Oscar for best actor. While Lady Gaga has joined the ensemble in a role modeled after Harley Quinn, he is reprising his role.
Todd brought the iconic DC Comics character back to life with the origin tale, which went on to become a hit film. Todd is best known for films like the Hangover franchise, Due Date, and War Dogs.
The story of failing clown Arthur Fleck, who chooses to turn criminal, is told in the original movie. With pop sensation Lady Gaga joining the ensemble, the sequel is slated to be a musical. A $200 million budget and 15 cover songs are features of the Jukebox musical.
The Joker 2 sequel’s tone shift to a musical makes perfect sense, according to Zazie Beetz, who will also play Sophie again. She remarked, “I can see Arthur, who is feeling and experiencing so much, dancing and singing about it,” in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Since he is the Joker, it seems reasonable to me.
Joker
2019 saw the release of Joker, an American psychological thriller film directed by Todd Phillips and co-written by Scott Silver. Joaquin Phoenix plays the Joker in the movie, which is based partly on characters from DC Comics. It is set in 1981 and centers on Arthur Fleck, a struggling stand-up comedian and former clown whose decline into nihilism and mental illness spurs a violent countercultural revolt against the wealthy in a decaying Gotham City. In supporting parts are Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, and Zazie Beetz. Joker was produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films in collaboration with Village Roadshow Pictures, Bron Creative, and Joint Effort. It was distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
