India Today has learned that the Pakistan Cricket Board has submitted the information to the government and is awaiting their response after the ICC notified them via formal email that India would not be visiting Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.
India To Not Visit Pak?
PCB president Mohsin Naqvi had wanted a written statement from the Indian board following rumors that the BCCI had told the ICC verbally that they would not be visiting Pakistan. According to information obtained, the ICC has already received it before the tournament’s dates are revealed.
“The BCCI has notified the PCB via email that their team will not be traveling to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025,” the ICC said. A PCB official stated, “The PCB has forwarded that email to the Government of Pakistan for their advice and guidance.”
The Champions Trophy 2025
The top eight teams in the international circuit will compete in the Champions Trophy, which returns after an eight-year hiatus. Pakistan has the right to host the tournament in 2025, and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has repeatedly emphasized that India must visit the opponent country in order to play Pakistan.
Pakistani Champions Trophy? PCB is unwilling to change the competition.
It remains to be seen what the board and the highest authority decide regarding the schedule after ICC sent an official communication to the PCB. India played its matches in Sri Lanka as part of a hybrid tournament hosted by Pakistan, which owned the rights to the 2023 Asia Cup.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has previously denied media rumors that they had decided to use a hybrid strategy for hosting the competition. According to Naqvi, holding the tournament in a hybrid format or abroad was out of the question.
Pak Suggests Plans For India Team
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) contacted the BCCI and suggested a plan that would allow India to visit either New Delhi or Chandigarh between games during the Champions Trophy the following year if the team is unwilling to remain in Pakistan for security reasons, according to news agency PTI.
The PCB “verbally” recommended to the BCCI that the Indian team might camp in Chandigarh/Mohali or New Delhi and take chartered aircraft to Lahore for their games. However, a PCB source told PTI that the board has not written any recommendations to its Indian counterparts.
Matches for the Champions Trophy are planned in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi between February 19 and March 9. The PCB has scheduled India’s matches in Lahore because of its logistical convenience and closeness to the Indian border.
