On Wednesday, Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD pre-release event took place in Mumbai. Even though the evening was made unforgettable by Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Rana Daggubati, there was one particular scene that captured everyone’s interest: Amitabh Bachchan stroking Aswini Dutt’s feet.
The Moment Of Respect At The Kalki 2898 Ad Event
When producer Aswini got on stage, Amitabh spoke about him and said, “He’s the owner of Vyjayanthi Films along with his two daughters (Swapna, and Priyanka) and I have never met a more simple, humble human being than Aswini. Every time on set, he’s the first person to be there, he’s at the airport to receive you, and he’ll ensure you’re protected, no one thinks like this.” Then Amitabh went on to say, “With all due respect,” before touching Aswini’s feet, who also touched his feet back in return.
On X (previously Twitter), Ram Gopal Varma posted a screenshot of Amitabh touching Aswini’s feet and captioned it, saying, “Here is UPPER LIMIT of achievement for ASHWINI DUTT by AMITABH BACHCHAN doing this. I doubt from N T Rama Rao onwards till the latest young heroes anybody would have done this and neither did I ever saw BIG B do this to any other PRODUCER in his entire career. KUDOS DUTT GAARU.”
Who Is Ashwini Dutt?
Aswini is the owner of Vyjayanthi Movies, one of the largest production companies in Tollywood, which was founded in 1974. Three daughters, Swapna, Priyanka, and Sravanthi, engage in production alongside him under the banner of Swapna Cinema. The director of Kalki in 2898 AD, Nag Ashwin, is Priyanka’s husband.
Blockbusters featuring NTR, ANR, Krishna, Sobhan Babu, Krishnam Raju, Venkatesh, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, Jr. NTR, and Ram Charan were supported by Aswini during his career. Aswini took a break after the 2011 film Sakthi, which had a difficult reception and returned with the successful 2017 feature Mahanati.
Kalki 2898 AD
Nag Ashwin is the writer and director of the upcoming 2024 Indian epic dystopian science fiction action film Kalki 2898 AD (stylized as Kalki 2898 − A.D.). It was mostly filmed in Telugu with certain portions reshot in Hindi, and it was produced by C. Aswani Dutt under the banner of Vyjayanthi Movies.[4][5] The movie is set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD and is inspired by Hindu scriptures. In addition to Amitabh Bachchan, Brahmanandam, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani in significant roles, Prabhas plays the film’s lead role.
