India batsman Nitish Rana and his spouse cruelly mocked the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after the team failed to bid for the cricket player during the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) 2025 auction in Jeddah. After six years with KKR, Rana was signed by the Rajasthan Royals for INR 4.20 crore.
KKR disregarded Nitish Rana during the IPL 2025 auction.
Nitish Rana: The Cricket Timeline
Since 2018, Rana has played a crucial role in the KKR setup. In 2023, he was even promoted to captain as regular captain Shreyas Iyer was sidelined due to his recuperation from a back injury. With the exception of 2024, when he participated in just two games due to injury worries, he was a reliable run scorer for KKR, amassing more than 200 runs in each season. He actually broke into the Indian white-ball team thanks to his 2020 and 2021 runs, and during the July 2021 tour of Sri Lanka, he received his first T20I and ODI cap.
Rana was dissatisfied that KKR did not buy for him or use the Right-To-Match card, nor did they keep him before the auction despite his contributions.
In a mysterious statement on social media, his wife Saachi Marwah stated: “Loyalty is very expensive; not everyone can afford it.” Rana took action when the social media photo went viral by posting an Instagram story with the caption, “Royal-ty is pink!” while sporting a pink blouse.
