The intense rains that caused severe waterlogging and other problems throughout the city of Mumbai on Wednesday prompted the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a red alert. Even the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had declared the closure of all city colleges and schools. Additionally, the civic council has asked residents to leave their houses only when absolutely essential.

Due to the bad weather, commuters at the Ghatkopar railway station are dealing with enormous difficulties as massive masses try to catch trains.

While the rain continues to disrupt daily life in the city, authorities have asked citizens to be cautious and be informed about the situation. Many people’s travel troubles have been made worse by the diversions of many flights.
Bad weather is causing major disruptions to flight operations at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Due to wind shear, an Indigo flight earlier today had to cancel its landing and was rerouted to Ahmedabad.
Mumbai Flights Get Cancelled
There have been up to seven go-arounds and two diversions, and more interruptions are expected as the weather becomes worse.
SpiceJet issued a statement warning passengers to check the status of their flights on the airline’s official website. “Due to bad weather (heavy rain) in Mumbai (BOM), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected,” the statement read.
Due to the heavy rains, Vistara also went to X and made multiple updates regarding the flight delays.
“Flight UK941 from Delhi to Mumbai (DEL-BOM) has been diverted to Hyderabad (HYD) due to bad weather at Mumbai airport and is expected to arrive in Hyderabad (HYD) at 2110 hours. Please stay tuned for further updates,” a Vistara post read.
