Indian IT companies are returning to college campuses for recruiting efforts following a prolonged hiatus. It suggests that the industry is starting to bounce again. The need for specialized tech talent is growing. IT organizations are no longer only employing a large number of entry-level engineers, as they were in previous years. They are currently seeking digital specialists and experienced programmers. Artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and cloud computing are some of these positions. These specialist positions will pay between Rs. 6 lakh and Rs. 9 lakh. This is a significant increase over the salary for entry-level jobs.
TCS to Recruit 40,000 Freshers As IT Firms Intensify Campus Hiring Efforts
For placements that began in July, prominent IT firms including IBM, Infosys, TCS, and LTIMindtree have made campus visits. TCS intends to take on 40,000 recent graduates. Infosys hopes to hire 15,000–20,000 fresh graduates through off-campus hiring events and on-campus recruitment activities. Following a four-quarter hiatus, Wipro is also hiring on campus again.
In the fiscal year 2023–24 (FY24), Infosys hired 11,900 campus recruits; this would be a beneficial development for the job market. This represented a significant 76% decrease from the previous year.
Up to 12,000 new hires are anticipated by Wipro. The TOI survey indicated that this placement season, the most in-demand fields are cloud, analytics, data, and artificial intelligence.
According to Saurabh Govil, head of HR at Wipro, the selection procedure for campus placements has tightened up recently. It emphasizes specialized abilities and certifications and has higher cut-off scores. NMIMS Group Engineering College’s training and placement officer is Shailendra Vidhate. “The deadline to participate in the placement season has increased to 70% from 60% the previous year,” he stated.
No More Traditional Methods
Companies are looking beyond the traditional coding tests to check the ability of candidates. They are changing their methods. They are now looking at social media profiles and certifications. This will give them a complete view of a person’s skills and background.
Campus recruitment is back. There is a strong focus on high-demand skills. This is good news for fresh engineering graduates. Those with specialized knowledge in cloud, data, and AI are especially in demand.
