The eagerly anticipated Meerut South Rapid Rail (RRTS) station opened for business on Sunday. The extension meant that passengers could travel from Meerut to Sahibabad in thirty minutes, which thrilled them.
Some referred to it as a fantastic achievement for the city, while other women called it a gift for Raksha Bandhan. After interacting with numerous passengers on board, India Today TV documented the entire trip and arrived at Sahibabad station from Meerut South Station in roughly thirty minutes.
A Rakhi Present For The Women?
We are enjoying the air conditioning on this trip; in the past, we had to deal with crowded buses. One passenger stated, “The train travels at a speed of 158 kilometers per hour.
Another traveler remarked, “People who were living in Delhi can now travel back faster thanks to this train.” “As a result, more businesses will want to locate in Meerut, and more educational institutions will open. Everyone will gain from it.” The women on the train saw it as a Raksha Bandhan present.
The Rapid Rail Train Journey
Beginning at 4:29 p.m., the travel took about 4 hours to reach Modinagar North, Murad Nagar station, Duhai, Raj Nagar, Ghaziabad, and Sahibabad. The voyage ended at 5 p.m. It just took thirty minutes to complete the trip.
Up to 160 kilometers per hour is the predicted top speed for the train.
The journey started at the magnificently constructed Meerut South Station, which also has extra security set up. The recently constructed station is completely covered in cameras. Additionally, there are always security personnel at the station. Notably, a separate lift is provided for those who are aged, disabled, or ill, and the station is designed to be inclusive of persons with special needs. An escalator has also been erected in addition to the stairs.
Big Parking Lots At The Meerut Station
The station will serve the Meerut region with local metro services in addition to quick rail trains. There are three tracks at the station on three platforms: one for metro services and two for Namo Bharat trains. There are three levels in the station: platform, concourse, mezzanine, and ground. Its dimensions are roughly 215 meters long, 36 meters wide, and 22 meters tall.
To further improve passenger comfort, the Meerut South station will include the biggest parking lot in Uttar Pradesh along the quick train track. Built over an approximate area of 13,000 square meters, the two parking lots are situated on either side of the station’s entry and exit gates. There are about 1,200 two- and four-wheelers that can fit in these parking lots.
There is also a specific parking space for auto-rickshaws. With direct access from the major road, the station is meant to make it simple for cars traveling from Delhi and Meerut to drop them off. The station features ramps for easy access and a separate parking area for the benefit of passengers with disabilities, enabling them to travel comfortably on the Namo Bharat Express.
The Rapid Rail Features
Every seat on the train has a pair of mobile charging ports. Two categories have been established for the train tickets. The ticket from Meerut South to Sahibabad costs Rs 110 in the normal category, while it costs Rs 220 in the premium category—double the regular fee.
The advent of the rapid rail is anticipated to bring about many benefits for the people of Meerut. The majority were observed praising the administration, seeming ecstatic. Given that more stations are being built, it is anticipated that the train will arrive at locations beyond Meerut.
On Sunday at 2:00 pm, the Meerut South Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) began operating for passengers. With this 8-kilometer extra segment, the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor now has a 42-kilometer total operating length. This contains 9 stations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South in Meerut.
The whole stretch from Sahibabad to Meerut South will have passenger train service from 6 am to 10 pm. From the terminal stations at Sahibabad and Meerut South, the first train in each direction will depart at 6 am, and the last train will depart at 10 pm.
For the Namo Bharat Train, the concessional one-way cost from Sahibabad to Meerut South would be Rs 110, and from Ghaziabad to Meerut South, it would be Rs 90.
