Even though it wasn’t quite live, Apple’s Let Loose event was jam-packed with important news. Improvements were made to the iPad Air and iPad Pro, especially with regard to screen size. The iPad Pro, which is known for being a high-end device, experienced a significant change. It looks pretty much the same, but it’s now thinner and lighter. With a thickness of just 5.1mm, the 11-inch model is Apple’s thinnest device to date. At 5.3mm, its larger 13-inch version is only a little larger than the preceding Pro. Notably, both models, which start at Rs 99,900 in India, include an amazing OLED display and the latest M4 chipset.
The Apple iPad Air Update
Concurrently, the iPad Air underwent an upgrade that included the faster M2 chipset. Its style is still the same, but it now comes with a larger 13-inch variant. To the joy of iPad fans, Apple has also generously upped the standard storage to 128GB. The updated iPad Air promises better performance and storage, with a starting price of Rs 59,900 in India.
The current iPads have officially seen a price reduction with the release of the new iPad Air and iPad Pro models, even though Apple has updated their selection. Now let’s examine the iPad lineup that Apple currently offers in India, along with their respective costs.
The Newest M4 Chip
The iPad Pro was introduced by Apple in two distinct sizes: the 11-inch and the 13-inch. Interestingly, Apple had previously released Pro models with 12.9-inch screens, but this is the first time a 13-inch Pro model has been released. Tandem OLED panels with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits, and compatibility for True Tone and P3 broad color gamuts are included on the iPads.
The newest 10-core M4 chip powers the iPad Pro (2024). It is marketed as the strongest tablet available from the manufacturer. This chip provides performance similar to the M2 chip in the 2022 iPad Pro while using half the power, outperforming the M3 chips found in Apple’s MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. The neural engine has been improved for on-device AI applications.
The Apple iPad Air And Pro Prices
The starting price of the 11-inch iPad Pro is Rs 99,900. The starting price of the 13-inch model is going to be Rs 1,49,900. Sadly, Apple no longer makes the 12.9-inch Pro model.
The 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air screens are the two sizes that Apple has offered at launch. The M2 chipset, which also powers the MacBook Air, drives the new iPad Air lineup. According to Apple, the new CPU is fifty percent quicker than the M1 chip found in earlier generations.
Together with space grey and starlight, the new iPad Air is also available in blue and purple colorways. The pricing of the 11-inch iPad Air is Rs 59,900, while the 13-inch iPad Air is Rs 79900. In India, orders for the iPad Air can be placed as early as today, but actual sales and delivery won’t begin until May 15.
Notably, the iPad Air 5 model has been quietly withdrawn by Apple. It is still available on e-commerce platforms, nevertheless.
