Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh was ordered to be released on bail by the Supreme Court since his trial in a money laundering case involving the Delhi excise policy issue is still pending. Following searches at his Delhi home, Sanjay Singh was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in October 2024. Following the ED’s declaration that it had no objections, the top court approved Singh’s release. “Nothing has been recovered; there is no trace,” LiveLaw cited the top court as stating.
2 Crore Delivered To Sanjay Singh
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) stated that, in light of an investigative report filed in accordance with sections 3 and 4 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), it did not object to the AAP Rajya Sabha MP being granted bail while the case was pending.
The ED claimed that a businessman, Dinesh Arora’s employee, had twice delivered Rs 2 crore to Singh’s residence. Arora, who later sided with the CBI and ED, made accusations that led to Sanjay Singh’s imprisonment. According to the central agency, it might challenge Singh with digital evidence.
Sanjay Singh Gets Bail
Following Sanjay Singh’s release on bail, his attorney, Rishikesh Kumar, claimed that the AAP MP was given bail because the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had not presented a convincing argument.
“Bail has been granted to Sanjay Singh. The most surprising thing is that Sanjay Singh was granted bail despite the fact that the Enforcement Department (ED) did not present a strong case during the hearing and instead gave up on the bail. This is because the judges made it clear before lunch that there was insufficient evidence to support Sanjay Singh’s case, and the ED had already conceded before the court, Kumar said.
Minister Atishi Stands Up For AAP
Atishi Marlena, an AAP politician and minister from Delhi, asserted earlier in the day that the BJP intended to imprison the party’s future generation of leaders. She continues, saying the BJP is concerned about the AAP’s continued popularity even with its top leaders imprisoned.
“The Aam Aadmi Party is still powerful and united, according to the BJP, even with Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and Satyendra Jain behind bars. Atishi stated, “They now intend to imprison the Aam Aadmi Party’s next generation of leaders.”
AAP leader Raghav Chadha stated that every party worker is having an emotional day in response to Sanjay Singh’s bail. “Today is a very emotional day for every Aam Aadmi Party worker,” Chadha stated. With the liberation of our lion, Sanjay Singh, there is an unfathomable happiness today. Jai Bajrang Bali
