Ratan Naval Tata Passes Away

“We bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation,” Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran said in a statement. It was with a profound feeling of loss.

For one of the most prominent and ancient business houses in India, he offered steady direction. He made a significant contribution outside of the boardroom as well.
As a well-known businessman and chairman of Tata Sons, Tata opened up new markets for the Tata Group and made it a well-known brand all over the world with his clever acquisitions and emphasis on innovation.
Ratan Tata, who was born on December 28, 1937, oversaw the Tata Group for more than twenty years. From 1991 to 2012, he served as chairman, and in 2016, he made a brief comeback as acting chairman. Under his direction, the business expanded quickly. Revenue for the Group climbed from $5.7 billion in 1991 to around $100 billion by 2012.
He was a big player in international transactions. Tetley in 2000, Corus in 2007, and Jaguar Land Rover in 2008 were acquired by Tata. Rattan Under Tata’s direction, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) also became well-known throughout the world. With the launch of the Tata Nano in 2008, the company sought to produce the most cheap automobile ever.

During his early years, Ratan Tata experienced personal hardships. He was reared by his grandmother, Navajbai Tata when his parents divorced when he was ten years old. Later, he moved to the US and graduated from Cornell University with a degree in architecture. He finished a graduate-level management course at Harvard Business School in 1975.
